ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR/TUTOR DESCRIPTION
The following outlines the duties and responsibilities of the Associate Director/Tutor at ABC in
Weekly staff and house meetings will be scheduled in the fall. Living in the house to help foster a homelike atmosphere, and to be a parental figure. The first few months until winter break is considered the probationary period for all new staff members. The Resident Directors will be your direct supervisors and will provide you with guidance regarding your role at ABC. Throughout the fall they will give you and the House Relations Committee feedback about your strengths and weaknesses. At the end of the probationary period, a formal meeting with Resident Directors and members of the House Relations Committee will be held to discuss your progress and a report made to the Board of Directors. You will be expected to enforce all house rules (our student handbook will be sent to staff over the summer) and be a good role model for the students.
Time Commitment
Beyond the required time commitments listed above, you will need to take general responsibility for fostering a family like atmosphere in the house and encouraging healthy use of the students free time. In addition, you should participate in recreational activities with the students on a regular basis.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have the time, energy, and commitment to providing support for 8-9 boys while they are away from home. Upper-class students; college graduates preferred. Experience in working with teenagers with a background in tutoring preferred. Maturity and ability to enforce rules, warmth and good interpersonal skills expected.
Remuneration
In lieu of performing these responsibilities you will receive room and board, and a $200 monthly stipend from mid-August through mid-June. Each staff member has a private bedroom. New staff members can move in as early as late June, if there is space available. The students return home for Thanksgiving weekend and winter and spring breaks (approximately ten days each). During this vacation the staff is not required to be at the house. On the other hand, during your college's spring break (if you are a student) you will need to be at ABC, if
